ARRANGEMENT FOR OCT. 9TH, 2002 Part 1 Topic: Behavior, values, attitudes, and job satisfaction. Part 2 Translation 1.Do in Rome as the Romans do. Part 3 Intelligent Test Where Is the Diamond? A man was standing at a corner on the street with five boxes in front of him. On each of the boxes there is a label. The man shouted to the passers-by, “Everybody has a good chance to get a piece of diamond. Don’t let the golden chance slip through your fingers. Many passers-by came around and stood there watching. The man went on shouting, “Of the five boxes, there is one containing a piece of diamond. Put a 10 dollar bill on the box which you believe to have the diamond in it. If you are wrong, you lose your money. If you are right, you may take away the diamond and have your money back as well.” A rich man who happened to pass by put the money on one of the boxes. When he opened the box, it was empty. The man put the money into his own pocket with a big smile on his face, and then he rearranged the boxes and the labels as follows: No.1: Diamond is in this box. No.2: Diamond is in this box. No.3: Diamond is not in this box. No.4: Diamond is in this box. No.5: Diamond is not in Box No.1. A clever little boy came up and asked: “Are all the labels telling a lie?” “No, there is one telling the truth,” the man answered. “Well, I put my money here.” The little boy put his money on one of the boxes and opened the box. The diamond was in it. Now, my dear friends, can you tell me in which box the diamond was and how the boy got the right box?
